Through the assistance of charitable grants, Henry’s Cupboard was launched in January of 2015. Named in honor of Senator Andy Dinniman’s poodle, Henry. The goal of this program is to provide free food assistance to pet owners living below the poverty level.
Pets loved by their owners should not be surrendered to a shelter simply because their owners are experiencing financial difficulties.
The BVSPCA believes that difficulty paying for food should not be a reason for owners to surrender their pets to the shelter, and the establishment of the Pet Food Pantry will ensure that all members of the community will have accessible food to keep their families together.
