Next Rabies Vaccination Clinic Set for May 21

Vaccinate Your Cats and Dogs Against Rabies for Only $7

The Chester County SPCA is sponsoring a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic on Wednesday, May 21, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the shelter at 1212 Phoenixville Pike in West Chester.

The one-year rabies vaccinations, which cost $7, will be administered by Carol Caracand, VMD. State law requires rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats over three months of age.

"The clinics are a great way for pet owners to vaccinate their companion animals at a very low cost," says Officer Rebecca Turnbull, coorindator of the Chester County SPCA Department of Animal Protective Services.

The Chester County SPCA also will be selling 2008 Chester County dog licenses at the clinic. The licenses cost $6.50 for spayed and neutered dogs and $8.50 for dogs that have not been spayed and neutered. Licenses are required for dogs over the age of three months.

The vaccinations will be available to pets from throughout the tri-state area. Dog licenses will only be available to residents of Chester County. The maximum fine for keeping a dog or cat without a rabies vaccine or a dog without a license is $300 each.

All pets brought to the rabies vaccination clinic mus be on a leash or in a carrier. Appointments are not necessary.
